The U.S. Air Force is heavily relying on proven industry partners to maintain a decisive information advantage in rapidly evolving, highly contested environments globally. In a massive defense services win, Leidos has officially secured a potential five-year Leidos 717M Air Force ISR support task order award GovCon Wire to fundamentally sustain and modernize the service’s critical intelligence-gathering operations worldwide.
Expanding the Mission Footprint
Awarded by the Acquisition Management and Integration Center (AMIC), the massive task order directly supports Air Combat Command (ACC). Headquartered at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia, ACC serves as a vital provider of combat air, cyber, space, and intelligence capabilities across the entirety of the U.S. military.
The sprawling $717 million agreement is structured with a one-year base period and four one-year option periods. If all options are exercised, Leidos personnel will perform critical support work at more than 35 military installations both within the United States and overseas. This footprint strategically positions contractor support directly alongside Air Force mission partners at the immediate point of need, ensuring intelligence is processed and distributed at the speed of relevance.
A Deepening Strategic Partnership
Under this sweeping task order, Leidos will deliver highly specialized subject matter expertise, comprehensive intelligence analysis, and advanced threat mitigation services. The company will also provide embedded training and vital mission support services directly to ACC headquarters, as well as to subordinate numbered air forces, centers, and wings.
Leidos has served as the prime contractor for this specific ISR support mission since 2019. Jason McCarthy, Senior Vice President of Airborne and Mission Solutions at Leidos, emphasized that this new, $717 million task order fundamentally builds on the foundational insight the company has developed over the past five years. McCarthy noted that the primary goal is to ensure airmen are equipped with the operational expertise required to rapidly assess threats and prepare for complex missions in highly dynamic threat landscapes.
Aligning with Broad Defense Priorities
This latest award aligns directly with Leidos’ broader “NorthStar 2030” strategy, a corporate initiative heavily focused on assisting Department of War customers in sustaining peak readiness to counter emerging global threats.
Furthermore, this ISR task order builds upon a streak of recent Air Force wins for the company. In recent months, Leidos has secured a $475 million contract to provide critical product support integration for the F-16 Avionics Intermediate Shop program, as well as a highly coveted $455 million contract to modernize and secure the Air Force’s Cloud One platform. Together, these awards solidify Leidos’ position as a central architect of the Air Force’s broader digital and operational modernization strategy.
