In a San Francisco courtroom, Judge Susan Illston dropped a bombshell on President Trump’s plan to trim the federal workforce. She went on to further issue even a temporary restraining order well talk about being bold! Followed by the legal move made by  labor unions in cities like San Francisco. Aiming to stop Trump’s February executive order, which aimed to shrink what he calls a bloated federal workforce. 

Illston, a Clinton appointee, ruled that the president needs Congress’s consent to overhaul the federal workforce. Halting layoffs at agencies like Health and Human Services in the process. Approximately 10,000 federal workforce jobs were on the chopping block. The order, expiring in 14 days, doesn’t force rehiring but pauses the chaos. Picture this: a Vermont farmer missing disaster aid, Social Security recipients twiddling their thumbs, and a Pittsburgh health research office losing 221 of 222 federal workforce members yikes!

Elon Musk’s DOGE Dreams on Hold

Trump, with billionaire Elon Musk leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), argued the order was just “guidance” for the federal workforce. But plaintiffs, including the American Federation of Government Employees, cried foul. They went on to state DOGE was bulldozing ahead without approval. The ruling covers departments like Agriculture, Energy, and the EPA, protecting the federal workforce from further cuts or now.
